CHEER Project: Call for Content Experts for Child Health Research Ethics Educational Modules
The
Canadian Collaboration for Child Health: Efficiency and Excellence in the Ethics Review of Research (CHEER)
(
https://cheerchildhealth.ca/
) is a 5-year CIHR-funded initiative to improve child health in Canada by streamlining the research ethics review of multi-site child health studies. The goal of the project is to achieve a single research ethics board (REB) review for multi-site child health research projects conducted across the country.
An important component of CHEER is developing a research ethics education program, which will include 5 research ethics educational modules, each approximately 35-45 minutes in length. These modules will provide lasting high-quality education focusing on topics and information essential to guiding the ethical conduct of child health research and the effective research ethics review of child health studies. With a particular focus on topics relevant to child health research ethics, the modules will cover the below areas:
Participant assent and consent
Study design
Participant recruitment
Data (e.g., data sharing and privacy, among other topics)
Patient and public engagement
We are seeking individuals with expertise in one or more of the above areas to participate in content expert working groups to advise and develop content of the modules.
The development of the educational modules will be in collaboration with the Office of Professional Development and Educational Scholarship (OPDES) at Queen’s University (
please see attached file for more details regarding the process
). In addition, the content working groups will be supported by the CHEER leadership.
Participating in one of the content expert working groups is expected to require a commitment of the equivalent of a few days over approximately a four month period. One day will be spent as a group developing the learning outcomes and curriculum, while the rest of that time will be spent independently on a specific content area. The dates of the module development are not yet set, and so there is flexibility regarding the start time for each content expert working groups.
